When they opened a new facility in Western Sydney, they needed a safety setup that could keep up with a busy warehouse from day one. Impact Barriers was engaged to supply and install Heavy Duty Polymer (HDP) Barriers and Pedestrian Gates throughout the facility.
The goal was clear. Separate pedestrian and forklift zones, protect people and assets, and do it without creating bottlenecks in a high-throughput operation.
Why Polymer for a New Facility?
Starting fresh gave the client a chance to get the safety setup right from the outset. Polymer barriers were the practical choice for a facility of this type. They absorb impact and flex on contact rather than deforming permanently, so after a forklift clip the barrier springs back instead of sitting bent and compromised until someone can schedule a repair.
For a logistics operation running around the clock, that matters. There is no paint chipping onto product, no rust risk in areas where hygiene standards apply, and no maintenance shutdown to replace a buckled section.
Our Pedestrian Gates paired directly with the HDP barrier system, giving workers a defined entry and exit point into pedestrian zones. The soft-close hinge keeps the gate shut between uses, so nobody has to remember to pull it closed behind them.
The Outcome
The site now has clear, physical separation between forklift traffic and pedestrian walkways across the facility. Assets and building infrastructure are protected at key impact points. And because the barriers are built to take repeated hits and keep performing, the team is not looking at constant replacement costs down the line.
For a new facility, it is the right foundation. For an operation this size, it is the kind of investment that pays for itself quickly.
