Introduction

Earlier this year, Impact Barriers delivered a state-of-the-art polymer safety solution for oOh! Media’s new, large-scale warehouse facility. After consolidating multiple warehouses into a single, high-traffic hub, oOh! Media required a modern, durable, and high-visibility system to manage the constant flow of vehicles and protect their staff and assets.

The Challenge: A High-Traffic, Multi-Vehicle Environment

The new facility operates as a dynamic drive-in, drive-out hub, with a constant flow of light commercial vans and heavy trucks. This created significant safety concerns that needed a high-performance solution:

  1. Internal Risk of Vehicle Impact: With vehicles constantly maneuvering inside, a robust, vehicle-resistant barrier was required to segregate traffic and protect key assets. The solution needed to be low-maintenance and capable of absorbing impacts without failing.
  2. Pedestrian Safety and Flow: Staff and drivers needed safe access to amenities. A clear, intuitive system was required to guide pedestrians and control access across vehicle pathways.

The Solution: An Integrated Polymer Safety System

Impact Barriers implemented a strategic, polymer-first solution to address the unique challenges of the oOh!media site.

  • Core Protection with Impact HDP Barrier: The primary safety measure involved installing approximately 210 metres of our Impact HDP Barrier. This heavy-duty polymer barrier is engineered to absorb and dissipate energy from significant vehicle impacts, preventing damage to both the barrier and the vehicle. Its high-visibility colour and modular design created a strong, clear physical separation between vehicle routes and work areas.
  • Controlled Access with Impact Pedestrian Gates: To complement the barrier system, nine Impact Pedestrian Gates were strategically placed. These gates provide clear, safe entry and exit points for pedestrian zones, ensuring the integrity of the traffic management plan and preventing accidental entry into vehicle-only areas.
  • External Walkway Definition: To secure the building’s exterior, 80 metres of steel guardrail were installed to create a protected walkway for drivers and staff.

The Result: A Modern, Safe, and Efficient Hub

The comprehensive installation by Impact Barriers has transformed the oOh!media facility into a safer, more organised, and visually streamlined environment. The polymer system minimises the risk of accidents, protecting staff, drivers, and valuable assets, ensuring that oOh!media’s high-paced operations can run smoothly and safely.
